• State Senator Melinda Bush (D-Grayslake) and State Representative Joyce Mason (D-Gurnee) honored the life and sacrifice of fallen Illinois State Trooper Gerald Ellis today at the Capitol.

Bush and Mason welcomed his widow, Stacy Ellis of Antioch, to the Capitol and held moments of silence for Trooper Ellis in both the House and Senate chambers. Both legislators sponsored resolutions in his honor.

On March 30, Ellis was on duty, driving home when he was fatally struck head on by a car driving the wrong way on I-94.

  • Today, students from Grayslake Middle School and River Trail School came to the Capitol to participate in Tech Day 2019. They showcased their work on transforming student and teacher communication and live broadcast and video production. STEM education is so important. It was great to see these bright young people in Springfield.

  • Todayy, I had two amazing, smart young women join me at the Capitol as my pages for the day. Ellen, a 17-year-old junior at Grayslake High School who is interested in becoming a judge, and Savannah, a 15-year-old freshman at Bloomington High School who is interested in journalism and theater. It was so great to have them join me. They both have very bright futures ahead of them!
