Senator Bush

July 31, 2014

Dear Friends,

With summer winding down, I wanted to invite you to informational events that I will be holding throughout the month of August. Please feel free to forward this information to anyone you know who may find these events or services useful. As always, please contact my district office at 847-548-5631 or visit my website for more information.

Foreclosure Prevention Event

Foreclosure WorkshopI will be hosting a foreclosure prevention event this coming Saturday, August 2 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at W.J. Murphy Elementary School in Round Lake Park.

Lake County has one of the worst foreclosure rates in the state and a housing market that is still unable to meet the demand for affordable housing. Although property values are recovering, Lake County foreclosure rates remain in the top three in the State of Illinois.

Experience shows that when homeowners facing foreclosure are given the opportunity to meet with their lenders and foreclosure-prevention experts, good things can happen. Many times there are avenues homeowners don’t know are available to them – that’s why we want to provide this opportunity for a homeowner to meet face-to-face with their lender. FIND OUT MORE

Hainesville Senator in Your Corner meeting

Senator In Your CornerI will also be holding the first of four Senator in Your Corner meetings next Tuesday, August 5 in Hainesville. The meeting will be held at the Hainesville Village Hall (100 Hainesville Rd, Hainesville, IL) from 6-7:30 p.m. and Hainesville mayor, Linda Soto, will join me for the meeting.

I plan to spend the majority of the time answering questions and requesting feedback from attendees, but I will also talk about this year’s legislative activity and my long-term economic development strategy.

Illinois needs creative long-term solutions to our budget problems, including a comprehensive plan that reduces income and property taxes while finding ways to fill revenue holes.

I hope the residents of Hainesville will join Mayor Soto and me to discuss jobs, employment and Lake County’s economic future. FIND OUT MORE

Zion Hiring Event

Hiring FairI am also pleased to announce an upcoming hiring event that will work to instantly match prospective job seekers with on-site employers.

The event will be held Thursday, August 14, 2014 from 10:00 am to 1:30 pm on the lower level basketball court at the Zion Park District Leisure Center (2400 Dowie Memorial Drive). Congressman Brad Schneider, the Illinois Department of Employment Security and the Jobs Center of Lake County will be partnering with my office to host this free event.

Our goal is to help the unemployed and underemployed get on-the-spot job offerings and critical feedback from potential employers. It is very seldom that a person can walk into a location, apply for multiple jobs, receive immediate interviews and even land a job all within a few hours. If you are unemployed or underemployed, please consider joining us for this event. FIND OUT MORE

Sincerely,
Senator Bush
