LAKE COUNTY, Ill. – To help Lake County residents whose jobs were impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, State Senator Melinda Bush (D-Grayslake) and Senator Adriane Johnson (D-Buffalo Grove) will host a virtual job expo with the Illinois Department of Employment Security and the Job Center of Lake County next Thursday.

“The job expo is an opportunity for Lake County residents to find new jobs that can turn into long-term careers,” Bush said. “No matter if you’re someone looking for a job after COVID-19 layoffs or wanting a new career path, the job expo is for you.”

From 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. Thursday, June 17, job seekers from a number of different employment sectors will explain their open positions and company benefits via Zoom.

“The COVID-19 pandemic took a toll on our state’s labor force and economy. Now that we’re entering recovery, many workers are planning to re-enter the career world, too,” Johnson said. “At this virtual job expo, Lake County residents can connect with a wide range of employers and find a job that suits their experience and goals.”

The event will be moderated by Bush and Johnson. All job openings discussed during the webinar will be posted on Some of the businesses and organizations participating include the Illinois Department of Human Services, FedEx Group and The Sherwin Williams Company – among a dozen others.
